Thanks to a generous contribution by FCRC from their 2020-21 Community Grants Program, Meals on Wheels Fraser Community in Hervey Bay now has a newly refurbished main cold room/freezer to store our prepared meals before distribution to clients throughout the Hervey Bay and Maryborough region.

Thank you to Adrian Tantari, our newly elected State Member, who found time in his busy schedule for a "getting to know you" meeting and tour of our facilities in Hervey Bay last week. He was notably impressed with the dedication and commitment of all our staff and volunteers working for the benefit of nearly 500 clients between the Bay and the Borough.

A big thank you to the Fraser Coast Regional Council who recently donated a fantastic $5000 for the purchase of new eskies to maintain the temperature of meals being delivered to our clients, some trollies and also a commercial blender to assist in the preparation of textured modified meals to meet the specific needs of certain clients.

Apr 2018A new chapter for Meals on Wheels in Maryborough .................
From Tuesday 10 April 2018 all meals for Maryborough clients are now prepared in our kitchen at Hervey Bay. This has resulted in major changes for both staff and volunteers in Maryborough - a new opportunity for the chef, David, and some volunteers who are now working in the Hervey Bay kitchen, plus the admin section in Maryborough has been restructured and Amy, who was the dessert cook, now has new responsibilities in line with the revised Food Safety Plan.

Many hundreds of people turned up to Scarness Park in Torquay on Sunday 10 July to join in the fun and raise money for Meals on Wheels in Hervey Bay and Maryborough. Among the attractions were Father Christmas (I think he might have been a little confused and got his diary dates mixed up!), Roxy the dinosaur, market stalls, ice creams, climbing wall, coffee van, bouncy castle, stationary engines plus the sausage sizzle, bacon and egg rolls and lamingtons all combining to make a great day out.
